Italo Disco Special Part 2. Diszkóvágás

A mai diszkóvágás kis késéssel (13:33) indult ugyan, de utána közkivánatra egy fergetegesen eklektikus italo disco műsor következett, a várva várt második rész, sok sok gyöngyszemmel, sms-el. Még Worek is betelefonált, hogy legyen végre egy norvég különkiadásunk is. És végre Hifi Nyuszi is ott volt a stúdióban!!!

A mai adásban az első magyar diszkóválogatást, a Discocity, Budapestet mutattuk be. Vendégünk volt a kompiláció két szerkesztője, Izil és Gabo Rindó, akikkel a CD keletkezésének történetéről, és a rajta szereplő zenékről beszélgettünk:

Proof that a disco groove can flourish in the most unusual places -- even behind the iron curtain during the 1970s! This set follows nicely on the heels of Funkytown Budapest -- and like that one, it uncovers a huge amount of work we'd never have heard otherwise -- a total of 16 tunes that show that the Eastern Bloc was hitting the dancefloors pretty darn heavily, even at a time when we might have thought otherwise. The style here follows nicely on the heels of other European disco work of the period -- with strands of French, German, and Italian grooves bubbling through the mix -- plus, of course, the key American styles that were the strongest component of the genre. And even though some lyrics aren't in English, that's ok with us because the overall sound is great -- and the tunes have plenty of great instrumental bits going on, even when we can't understand the singers! BUÉK! Az év legelső vágásában diszkó maxi single-k és kislemezek B oldaláról szemezgettünk, bemutatva, hogy a korabeli szerkesztők hogyan oldották meg a hátsó oldal kitöltését.
Voltak, akik egyszerűen egy gyengébb számot raktak rá, voltak, akik egy lassút, voltak, akik a szám instrumentális változatát, vagy egy remixét, és voltak, akik a B oldalból is A oldalt csináltak. Sőt olyan is akadt, aki a hátsó oldalra rakta azt a számot, amit az utókor jobbnak itélt az a oldalnál.
